From one of the winning teams from 2013 ;“Slightly hesitantly, we jumped in the cars to an unknown corner of Devon. Well, it actually turned out to be the best decision we made!! We were away from the usual distractions of home, and could focus on the fundamentals of safety and navigation, without which you can forget any successful ocean crossing. The courses taught us everything we needed to know, and also gave us lifelong new friends (staff and other student ocean rowers), time to enjoy some pasties and great sea food (including the crab shack right opposite which has the best fresh caught crab sandwiches), local ale at one of the local pubs, and a cheeky paddle board on a break time! I would really recommend heading to SeaSports South West to build the foundation of any successful ocean rowing campaign.”
