COURSE DESCRIPTION: “The 1-Day RYA First Aid course will provide a thorough grounding in first aid techniques with particular reference to small craft afloat.”
In a medical emergency a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers. The RYA First Aid course is the only recommended course for instructors as well as RYA Yachtmasters
• professional skippers working under the Maritime and Coast-guard Agency Codes of Practice for Small Vessels Operated Commercially
• the Senior First Aid certificate needed by offshore racers subject to World Sailing's regulations on first aid training (OSR 4.08.4);
• the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations, 1981 for the purposes of Emergency First Aid at Work.
Specific to the marine environment the course also covers:
• Confined spaces
• CPR including drowning
• Cold shock and immersion hypothermia
• Sea sickness & dehydration
• Medical assistance by VHF
• Helicopter rescue
• Category C medical stores
All course materials are provided as well as tea and coffee but we’re unable to provide lunch. There are lots of great bakeries, chips shops, cafes and shops very near by.

In a medical emergency, a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This one-day course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers.
It fulfills the requirements for professional skippers of small craft working within 60 miles of safe haven. The course is recommended by the MCA and HSE and satisfies the requirements of some categories of commercial work afloat, including boat masters.
A valid certificate is a requirement for the Coastal Skipper, and Yachtmaster Offshore examinations as well as all RYA Instructor and BCU Coaching awards.
Manuals are distributed during the course for attendees to keep which is included in the price. Tea and Coffee will be provided, but you will be expected to provide your own lunch (good facilities are available nearby).

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The first step in the cruising scheme theory pathway. This excellent course gives a basic introduction to essential navigation and safety for anyone new to boating; Sailors, power-boaters, sea anglers, divers, boat-masters, experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors, as well as inshore racers.
The course content includes charts and publications, safety, buoyage, tidal awareness, basic navigation and pilotage, rules of the road, electronic navigation, anchoring, weather forecasts, and passage planning.
This is an online course; you will receive a course pack that includes a chart, plotter, dividers, course handbook, exercises, and an electronic chart plotter CD which can either be collected or sent out by post.
All you need is a computer with an internet connection.
