Why SeaSports? We been training ocean rowers since 2012, including the majority of teams (and several winning teams) who have taken part in the Atlantic Challenge and the Pacific Challenge too. In that time we have developed bespoke courses including the RYA qualifications required for each ocean rowing challenge, including the Atlantic Challenge and more recently the Pacific Challenge too. We are the only training centre that Atlantic Campaigns recommend.

Our focus is to teach you the RYA courses that you need: navigation and passage planning; weather routing and how to understand the ocean charts that you will be using on your crossing.

Our involvement doesn’t end with your courses; we are here to support you all the way to the finish line. We annually attend the Atlantic race start in La Gomera, providing refresher training with passage planning and other support where needed. Most importantly a friendly and supportive voice!

This is a bonding challenge and many rowers return to Teignmouth each year for our past present and future rower’s event.

Location

Enjoy a week in Teignmouth: An unspoiled harbour and town on the south Devon coast with lovely beaches, great coastal walks or runs, and some excellent restaurants. Our local gym offers discounts to rowers so it’s easy to keep training during your stay.

Atlantic Campaigns

If you are training for the Atlantic or Pacific Challenge, then while you are here you will get the opportunity to meet Atlantic Campaigns Event Manager, Nikki Holter, so you can discuss your individual campaign. Spending the week with your own team and with other rowing teams is invaluable. We make time during your week with us to socialise and exchange experiences and ideas.

Let’s not forget Sue’s cakes! Our afternoon tea and cake is becoming as renowned as the quality of our courses.

Accommodation

If you would like to book accommodation Staying in our holiday home is a great way to get to know the other rowers on the course. Our holiday homes offer plenty of space to work, socialise, and chill out. They are also close to the town centre, the beach, and SeaSports. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

A Residential Shore-based training for ocean rowers (6 days) including RYA Sea Survival, RYA First aid, Marine SRC (VHF) certificate, RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship skills.
