The Personal watercraft proficiency course is a one day course that teaches riders the basics of riding a PWC quickly confidently and Safely, rules of the road, how to avoid a collision, slow speed manoeuvres and high speed control and what to do in case of an emergency. Many locations (including Teignmouth) require you to hold a PWCP certificate in order to launch.
Topics covered include Launching, handling & recovery skills. Passage planning and decision making, high speed handling and slalom courses. There is a certain amount of theory which we intersperse between practical sessions, covering as much of it as possible on the water.
You will learn to be a self-sufficient PWC rider in the right conditions: aware of own limitations and those of craft
Typically, students will bring their own craft to these courses (which we encourage). However, ski hire is available for the course, at a price of £90.
Each RYA Personal Watercraft course is normally restricted to to 2 students per course. We can accommodate courses with up to 6 students, but please contact us to arrange this.
