Thanks for a great power boating course last week. The fact the weather was bad was actually a plus point for us as it enabled us to be see our limits more clearly. Tim is a great instructor and we felt very privileged to be in such capable hands, in particular given the conditions. We certainly feel a lot more comfortable about getting our first power boat and getting out on the water as a family.

Dear Sue,

Mark and I would like to say how much we enjoyed the 3 hour Kayak trip up the River Teign last wednesday, to mark my 50th birthday!  The guide, Mark, was a fantastic guy, so knowledgeable, explaining about the tides and the wind, and pointing out the wildlife along the way! He is a great asset to your company! Please pass on our thanks! 

 

We had a lovely 3 days in shaldon, and we were really lucky with the weather, and we enjoyed the Regatta. When we are next down I will email and see if we can book in again, and hopefully catch a sunset kayak!

A quick note to thank both of you for taking us through the Sea survival, first aid & radio courses last week. We all really enjoyed the courses and our time down in Devon and whilst we hope never to need the first aid & sea survival aspects we are so much more better prepared than when we arrived.

Dear Tim Sue and Paddy

 Just wanted to thank you for a superb weeks Level 1 & 2 sailing this week. I wanted to pick up dinghy sailing again after some 20 years and learn in a relaxed and friendly environment by the Sea - Seasports Southwest didn't disappoint!

 The single handed sailing really helped build my confidence and learn my strengths and weaknesses and the two man sailing has given me the confidence to try out more boats and find the one for me.

 Tim and Paddys style of instruction was perfect for me - relaxed informative and encouraging - thank you guys!

Hi Sue –Thanks again to you both for such a fantastic weekend – you really did make James’ birthday one to remember.

Sue / Tim,

Just a short note to thank you and your team for making our holiday.

With 3 growing boys it is always difficult to find something new to do and the 5 day sailing, and 3 day catamaran courses that Thomas and Oliver attended has really fired their enthusiasm for sailing and I think that this was through a combination of your facilities and the excellent attitude of you and your team.

We are also very grateful for your flexibility in accommodating Joshuas last minute change of plans, and looking back I think that the one on one tuition he received from Dan over his 3 days will stand him in good stead to take his sailing to the next level.

The 2 older boys were both proud and exhilarated to be awarded their level 2 on the Catamaran and I know that they learned a lot with Tim whilst at the same time having a lot of fun and getting very wet! Please also pass on our gratitude to Dan as Joshua really took to his ways of teaching and I think he had as much fun teaching Joshua as Joshua had learning from him.

Whilst the boys kept nagging me to buy them a dinghy, I can't see this happening in reality and as you suggested we have already made enquiries to join a local sailing club here in Kent. I am sure that we will see you again in the near future (probably October half term) looking to hire your dinghies and catamaran - but in the meantime we wish you every luck and success with your business.

I write with regard to my training with SeaSports Southwest in June 2010 led by Andy (Power Boat Level 2) and Stew (Safety Boat).

 

I wish to thank you for allowing me to join you at your centre and to recommend the instructors for my courses to your attention. I feel they managed to contribute to making these courses remarkable with their enthusiasm, approachability and consummate professionalism. They were excellent in their assistance to those on the courses and carried themselves competently and courteously throughout the four days I was there.

 

Their encyclopaedic knowledge of power boat, sea safety and maritime issues, policies and methodologies was clearly evident. The training sessions were well prepared and thoroughly comprehensive in the coverage of the subject matter.

 

I look forward to attending further courses with you and to return next year with our girls for the sailing acquaint.

Just a little emal to say Thank You so much.  Billy has had such a great time. Billy didn't think anything existed that was fun in the world except for XBox and was horrified when I signed him up for his 2 day sailing course with you. I went from being the worlds worst Mum to the worlds best Mum in 2 days. He has had an amazing time and now wants to come in the next school holiday for more sailing!!
 
Chelsea is also having fun. She never really tells me much about her day but I can see she is exhausted and happy at the end of each day, which for Chelsea is fantastic! Sophie has also really enjoyed her week...

I recently attended an RYA VHF Short Range Radio Operator course at   SeaSports Southwest  in Teignmouth. We had an excellent day. The venue was comfortable, facilities fresh and clean and the staff very friendly. The lecturer was first class, he was experienced, answered all questions fully and held our attention throughout the day.

Dear Tim & Sue,

 

Thankyou for providing probably the most enjoyable training course that I have ever attended (and I’ve been on a few!). When my wife, my 17 year old son and I attended your Power Boat Level 2 course, on 19th & 20th February 2009, we could not have been more impressed with the quality of your entire service.

Tim’s relaxed style enables him to deliver such high quality tuition based on his high levels of confidence and competence on the water. At every stage of the 2 days his humour and excellent interpersonal skills allowed us to learn in a fun and  very safe manner.  

He took us from being real novices to being able to handle our boat in many varying conditions, using the boat to carry out a wide range of different tasks on the river, out at sea, mooring, coming alongside, towing etc etc.

When we ran out of fuel in a strong ebbing tide current (our fault, not his!), his experience and calm approach enabled us to use different strategies to manoeuvre, stabilise, secure and finally return the boat to the pontoon, a very valuable (if unplanned) part of Day 1 training!

All training, whether theoretical or practical, was delivered at a pace to suit us in a most relaxed yet dynamic fashion. At no stage were we asked to do more than we wished, but we were constantly challenged and encouraged to achieve more.

I would commend  this course to anyone considering powerboat training – if you live in or are visiting South Devon you could not do better than to consider some quality time on the water with Sea Sports Southwest!
